Pay Card FAQ

7/16/2020: Important information for employees who get paper paychecks (if you get direct deposit, it doesn’t apply)

Beginning Aug. 7, we’re replacing the paper paychecks you’ve been getting with a Visa prepaid card. The card is greener, safer and more efficient than paper checks, and it’s in keeping with the Tribe’s climate emergency declaration. (Click here to read the resolution.)

The pay card works a lot like a debit card. Your pay will go right onto the card, and you can use it anywhere a Visa debit card is accepted – stores, ATMs, post offices and more. You can even transfer your money into a bank account. You’ll get 24/7 customer service – and there’s even an app for the card.

No more lost checks, and no more standing in line to cash a check. The cards are also easy to replace if you happen to lose yours. watch the video below that explains how the card works.

What do you need to do?

  1. Tuesday (7/21), Thursday (7/23), or Friday (7/24): Stop by the Check Distribution Office, between the hours of 9-11 and 1-3, second floor of Admin Bldg. to pick up your pay card.
  2. Zoom meetings: For you to talk with Payroll staff about the new card, learn how to avoid fees and ask questions. We will send you a link before the meeting. Meeting times: Tuesday, July 28, 10 a.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 4, 10 a.m.
  3. Friday, Aug. 7: Your pay will be loaded onto your new card. We’ll also have another Zoom meeting at 10 a.m. in case you have more questions. If you have any problems, call Payroll at (253) 573-7841. They’ll be able to fix any mistakes right away. It’s that simple. And if you don’t want a pay card, you can always sign up for direct deposit. Click here to get the form.Your next step: Stop in Accounting the week of July 20 to pick up your card.
