From Puyallup Tribal Council
November 2, 2020
To all of you, our honorable people and relatives,
We have some great news to share. Tribal Council has approved a new $1,000 educational assistance stipend. It is available to every eligible Tribal member student from kindergarten through 12th grade and for all students enrolled in higher education programs.
This is IN ADDITION to any other educational stipends you or children in your care may be getting. We recognize that school closures and remote learning have caused hardship on our Tribal students. Our students are vital to our Tribe’s long-term success, so we are providing this new assistance to offset some of the pandemic’s financial burden.
We are funding these assistance payments from the Tribe’s federal COVID-19 Coronavirus Relief Fund. Receipts and/or records of expenses should be maintained for audit purposes.
Your 2020-21 School Clothes Stipend Application will be used as the basis for distributing the educational assistance stipend. If you did not apply for the School Clothes Stipend, we do not have updated information for you, so we ask that you reach out to for an application.
Higher Education Students
Students currently enrolled in higher education through the Tribe’s Higher Education Department, as of the date of this letter, will automatically receive the stipend.
Council and staff have worked hard through this pandemic to keep vital services open and to send as much COVID assistance to our Membership as we can. We will continue to do so.
