Parent Engagement Night – Routines

Parent Engagement night 8

The Little Wild Wolves Youth Center was host again to the eighth Parent Engagement Night on Aug. 27, a monthly community forum hosted by the Wrap Around Program.

The session focused on routines, and how developing them can be beneficial for both parents and children. JHW Intake-Resource Case Manager Nancy LaPointe-McCloud said the topic was chosen with the upcoming school year in mind and aimed at helping parents prepare.

“We chose this topic to kind of ease parents back into getting back to school,” McCloud said. “We hopefully are helping parents realize they’re all facing the same kind of problems or challenges, and are providing them with any tips or anything that they can walk away with that will make their routine better.”

Attending families took turns sharing what healthy routines they practice at home, and shared their experiences on how having them helps them in their daily lives. Intake-Resource Case Manager Julio Feliciano and At-Risk Youth Outreach Coordinator Sid Sandstrom also helped raise discussions throughout the evening on overcoming routine roadblocks and sharing which routines make a difference for them.

The evening concluded with a reminder for families to focus on progress over perfection, and families shared one small change they would work on in the upcoming week. If you’re interested in attending the next session, Parent Engagement Night will continue next month on Sept. 24 at the Little Wild Wolves Youth Center.
