As the Tacoma Rainiers and the Las Vegas Aviators took to the field at Cheney Stadium in late May, Puyallup Tribal Youth joined the Pioneer Valley Elementary School choir in singing the national anthem to welcome in the game.

The fifth grade group of singers took their spot on the field following the pre-game first pitch, with the Tribal sisters expressing excitement at the opportunity to perform at the stadium.

“I’m honored and happy to go there because not all choirs get the opportunity,” Lyla said.

This performance marks the final time the two 11-year-old sisters will perform with their elementary choir before moving on to middle school, but the girls said they both plan to join new choirs and continue singing.

“I think this is a great choir and I’m happy for the new kids that get to join this choir group,” LakotahMay said. “I would like to join another choir in middle school.”
