A Mardi Gras inspired setting decorated the House of Respect at the February Elders Luncheon on Feb. 20.
House of Respect staff members and Puyallup Tribal Elders donned masks and sported lavish costumes for a New Orleans-themed celebration with live music from the Cosmic Jazz Quartet.
February’s Honored Elder was Cemetery Director Donnie Finley. Finley was blanketed by Councilwoman Monica Miller and Elders Wellness Center Executive Director Vernetta Miller. Heritage Division Manager Connie McCloud gave the blessing before Elders enjoyed their lunch of shrimp and sausage jambalaya, roasted chicken and braised pork loin.
The luncheon wrapped up with Chairman Bill Sterud and Councilwoman Miller hosting a raffle featuring cash prizes, blankets, robes, bags and a hat.
