Elders enjoy vintage music at April luncheon

2026 April Elders Luncheon

By Puyallup Tribal Staff

Three decades of musical expertise was on display at the April Elders Luncheon at the House of Respect on April 24.

Lushootseed Teacher Chris Briden played the viola da gamba, entertaining Puyallup Tribal Elders with English Baroque, Dutch Baroque and French Baroque music throughout the day. Briden said he’s played the viola da gamba for the past 30 years.

“The Tribe helped me study this instrument so it feels great for me to give back,” Briden said.

Heritage Division Manager Connie McCloud gave the blessing before House of Respect staff served lunch. Chairman Bill Sterud and Elders Wellness Executive Director Vernetta Miller concluded the luncheon by handing out cash prizes and flowers from the raffle.
