Puyallup Tribal Health Authority, Children of the River Child Advocacy Center, Wrap Around and Birth to 6 were all present at Grandview Early Learning Center’s latest Family Night providing resources to families with a theme of autism acceptance and child abuse prevention.
Attendees also enjoyed a catered dinner from Off the Rez Café and an ice cream social inside the facility.
Grandview Early Learning Center Assistant Director Kate Tercero said the event was designed to offer families access to resources they may not had even known about.
“We do this (family night) every month, but this particular one offers families the opportunity to talk with other agencies and get some good information. We just want to make sure people know these programs exist and are there to help families,” Tercero said.
Some of the resources included social, emotional and relational books, sensory mats and t-shirts.
Birth to 6 Program Director Zenia Melendez said she was very thankful different departments were able to come together for the event.
“This is the very definition of community. We wanted parents to know these resources are just in their backyard,” Melendez said.
