FIFA world Cup 2026 Q & A

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Puyallup Tribe involved in the World Cup?

This partnership is a historic moment, as it is the first time Indigenous people will have an official presence at any World Cup.

For the Puyallup Tribe, this is an opportunity to share our story with local neighbors and international visitors alike. Through this partnership, we will increase understanding of our values and heritage, raise awareness of our economic and community impact, and support our business ventures. The World Cup also provides a moment for Puyallup members to celebrate with each other and feel a sense of pride at sharing their stories on a global stage.

What does the partnership include? What are we doing?

As the Official Legacy Supporter for SeattleFWC26, we are building a comprehensive plan that will increase understanding of our values and heritage, raise awareness of our economic and community impact, and support our business ventures. We’ve also gathered input from members through a survey and outreach conversations to ensure their voices are included and represented in every aspect of the partnership.

More details will be shared in the coming months, but here are some of the activations we are working on now:

  • High profile participation in SeattleFWC26 activities, including the Opening Ceremonies, March to the Match, and Fan Zones
  • A storytelling campaign, to share our culture and heritage, community impact, economic contributions, and environmental protection efforts

  • Land acknowledgement at Seattle World Cup matches
  • Traditional gifts shared with dignitaries

  • Exclusive opportunities for members to participate in World Cup activities, serve as vendors, volunteer, celebrate, and connect with each other
