Education Incentives Program (EIP)

Mission Statement

The goal of the Education Incentives Program (EIP) is to encourage Puyallup Tribal member children, youth and adults to work diligently in bringing up and maintaining good grades; to attend school regularly and to improve their academic performance, thereby increasing their knowledge, skills and ability to progress in post-secondary educational institutions. Please note: No waivers or exceptions to these policies including eligibility will be allowed.

Grades and Attendance Incentive

Report card required.

Pre Graduation Assistance

To assist with graduation expenses, i.e., cap and gown, invitations, portraits, announcements, etc.

Graduation Recognition

$500 and a Pendleton Blanket. High School Diploma required, must apply within one year of graduation.

High School Completion or Credit Retrieval

Tuition, campus fees up to $1500 per term and $300 for required books.

GED Preparation and Testing

Testing fees up to $30 per test or $120, testing fees will only be paid one time. GED preparation cost will be paid up to $500 per month for up to one year.

GED Recognition

$300 Recognition.

Running Start

Tuition not covered by school and campus fees up to $500 and required books up to $300.

Tutoring Assistance

Tutoring tuition assistance for up to 12 hours or $500 per month, whichever is greatest.

Educational Enhancement

Qualifying Educational Enhancement include core classes (English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies), and/or classes that provide high school credit.

School Clothes Stipends

Assistance with clothing and school supplies. Dates, amounts, and required documentation may change.

  • Applications that are incomplete, illegible, late or not meeting the guidelines will be delayed or denied.
  • Policies/dates are subject to change during the course of the year.

School Clothes Assistance Policies and Guidelines

Eligibility

  • Must be an enrolled Puyallup Tribal Member to receive services, application required.
  • Puyallup Tribal Members with a permanent enrollment number assigned by September 28, 2023, pursuant to current tribal enrollment and service eligibility policies.
  • Students in Kindergarten through grade 12 who are under the age of 19.
  • Students enrolled in a certified Elementary, Middle or High School. Homeschooling is acceptable for grades K-12 with proper documentation.

Requirements

Parent/Guardian must submit a completed application to the Educational Incentives Program. (Some supporting documentation may be needed)

  • Students in Kindergarten 2023-24 will need verification of enrollment on school letterhead from the school they will be attending or an official class schedule.
  • Students ages 16-18 will need verification of enrollment on school letterhead from the school they will be attending or an official 2023-24 class schedule.
  • For custody disputes and court orders, please submit supporting court documentation.
  • Application should be submitted to the Education Incentives Program by July 27, 2023. Late applications and supporting documentation will not be accepted after September 29, 2023.

Check Disbursement

  • Checks may be delayed if your address is not up to date. Address updates should be done in accounting, enrollment and per capita.
  • In cases of custody or other disputes, decisions will be made based on the information submitted and available at the time of check disbursement. All decisions are final.
  • Checks will be disbursed to the permanent custodial parent. Checks will not be given to parents with vacation or summer custody.
  • Check reissue requests must be completed by October 14, 2023.
